South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - December 15, 2000
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
c. Commission approval requested for the
Blackthorn Golf Course Proposed Pricing for
the year 2001.
Mr. Rock explained that the Blackthorn Joint
Committee had met on November 28, 2000 and
recommended approving the proposed pricing
changes. He noted that the Blackthorn staff was
in attendance to answer any questions that the
Commission might have.
Mr. Hunt questioned the wisdom of setting a
budget of $1,700,000, since Blackthorn Golf
Course had achieved revenues in that amount
only once, in 1999. The staff has consistently
over estimated revenues over the last six years.
Mr. Nissley responded that there were an
usually large number of rain days last year.
They believe the budget is a reasonable one.
Mr. Nissley stated that the staff has been
working on ideas to increase revenues. One idea
is to promote golf outings for groups by offering
last year's rate for booking early for the coming
year. He noted that the staff would be
informing the public via mass mailings.
Another idea is to host the 2001 roof -sit for
charity fund- raising. Mr. Nissley explained that
by offering Blackthorn as the fund- raising site,
Blackthorn would be promoted throughout the
area.
Mr. Franklin noted that several area businesses
have already booked outing for the year 2001.
Upon a motion by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by
Ms. Jones and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved the request for the
Blackthorn Golf Course Proposed Pricing for
the year 2001.
-4-
COMMISSION APPROVED THE REQUEST FOR
THE BLACKTHORN GOLF COURSE PROPOSED
PRICING FOR THE YEAR 2001
