South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting - February 4, 2000 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />d. Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 1739 Commending <br />Hardie Blake for Meritorious <br />Service to the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission. <br />Mr. Hunt read Resolution No. 1739 <br />as follows: WHEREAS, many people <br />express concern about urban <br />problems and their impact upon the <br />community; and WHEREAS, some <br />people demonstrate their concern by <br />personal involvement in the process <br />of seeking solutions; and WHEREAS, <br />a very few people are both willing <br />and able to bring a degree of <br />dedication and leadership that <br />culminates in real, measurable <br />progress, enriching the life of the <br />community; and WHEREAS, Hardie <br />Blake has shown such leadership in <br />honorably serving as a member of <br />the South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission from March 1998 to <br />November 1998; and WHEREAS, <br />during his tenure on the Commission <br />Hardie has had an active role in <br />projects such as the Blackthorn golf <br />course, Blackthorn Corporate Park, <br />new housing in the Southeast <br />neighborhood and the West <br />Washington- Chapin Development <br />Area, the Leighton Plaza project and <br />the Morris Performing Arts Center; <br />and WHEREAS, Hardie has never <br />forgotten the public that he serves <br />and has been committed to the public <br />process of decision making. NOW, <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br />that the South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission hereby recognizes <br />Hardie Blake for his commitment <br />and distinguished service to the <br />South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission and the City of South <br />Bend; thanks him for the outstanding <br />contributions he has made, and <br />-5- <br />
