South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - February 4, 2000
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
i. continued....
Upon a motion by Mr. Donoho,
seconded by Ms. Jones and
unanimously carried, the
Commission accepted the proposals
from Ralph Lauver in the amount of
$1,750.00 and Douglas Carpenter in
the amount of $350.00 for
professional services in the Airport
Economic Development Area.
j. Commission approval requested
for Order of Bankruptcy Court in
connection with the property at
1316 S. Michigan Street in the
Sample -Ewing Development Area.
Mrs. Kolata stated that the property
at 1316 S. Michigan Street is the
former Michigan Street Adult
Bookstore. At one point, the
building and the business were
owned by one firm. Previously, the
business was sold to a group which
relocated it to S. Main Street. The
building was owned by a partnership.
The partnership dissolved and then
went into bankruptcy.
There were some conversations
about the property in late November
and December of 1999 that if the
property owner came in with an offer
of $90,000, the City would agree to
this as a settlement. The City
originally paid $129,500 into the
court as a result of the condemnation,
so the City will receive $39,500 back
after the case is settled.
COMMISSION ACCEPTED THE PROPOSALS
FROM RALPH LAUVER IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,750.00 AND DOUGLAS CARPENTER IN
THE AMOUNT OF $350.00 FOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN THE AIRPORT
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AREA
-13-
