NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />p. continued.... <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that at the time the <br />Design Standards were written, the staff <br />did not totally appreciate the commercial <br />nature of the Lots along Brick Road. <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that Welsh Oil has <br />proposed signage for two locations as well <br />as the location for high -rise sign. <br />Mr. Hunt stated that every variance the <br />Commission executes sets a precedent for <br />the next person who decides to develop a <br />project in the Airport Economic <br />Development Area. <br />Ms. Schwartz stated that the staff should <br />look at the Design Standards in light of the <br />potential usage that Welsh Oil pointed out <br />to the Commission. Whatever Standards <br />the Commission may adopt need to <br />address the issues presented by Welsh Oil <br />and also need to be looked at for <br />reasonable investment expectations of <br />other uses in the U.S. 31 Industrial Park. <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that Welsh Oil's <br />variance request will be presented to the <br />Board of Zoning Appeals the third week in <br />March. <br />Mr. Howard stated that Welsh Oil would <br />be willing to build a sign which is big <br />enough for another company to also place <br />their logo on the high -rise pole. <br />HAWPDATA \C0MMSN\021999.M1N -29- <br />
