NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />f. continued.... <br />Ms. Thompson stated that they checked <br />Mr. Austin's background to see if he had <br />experience in managing rental properties. <br />Mr. Austin owns three properties in South <br />Bend. She also stated that Mr. Austin has <br />eight properties in Sandusky, Ohio. <br />Ms. Thompson stated that the Department <br />of Community Development in Sandusky, <br />Ohio, issued a letter on behalf of Mr. <br />Austin. The letter stated that a property on <br />Fifth street in Sandusky, Ohio was vacated <br />and would have been demolished by the <br />Department of Community Development, <br />however, Mr. Austin's purchase and <br />rehabilitation of the property turned the <br />multi - family building back to productive <br />housing stock. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Blake, seconded by <br />Ms. Schwartz and unanimously carried, <br />the Commission approved the Assignment <br />of Interest and Rights of Joseph <br />MacHatton to Charles Austin for the <br />property at 413 S. Jackson Street. <br />g. Commission approval requested for <br />Quit -Claim Deed relative to the New <br />Hope Missionary Baptist Church. <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that the City of South <br />Bend bought land from and sold land to <br />New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at <br />the same time. At that time, there was a <br />single Agreement regarding the land the <br />City wanted to purchase and the land New <br />H: \WPDATA \C0MMSN \020599.MIN -9- <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE ASSIGNMENT OF <br />INTEREST AND RIGHTS OF JOSEPH MACHATTON <br />TO CHARLES AUSTIN FOR THE PROPERTY AT 413 S. <br />JACKSON STREET <br />
