South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 6, 1998
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
t. continued....
Rick Newman proposes to start
construction of his 13,500 sq ft addition in
December 1998.
The second bid received was from Eagle
Freight.
Eagle Freight USA proposes to purchase
all of Lot 3, which consist of 5.19 acres in
the Toll Road Industrial Park. Eagle
Freight proposes to build a 20,000 sq ft
building, with a possibility of expanding
the building in the future. The building
would contain offices, packaging and
warehousing sections.
Eagle Freight's purchase price is $160,000
for the 5.19 acre lot. However, Eagle
Freight did not submit a plan, the proper
proposal forms or the 10 percent
performance guarantee.
The staff recommends accepting the bid
from Rick Newman because he has an
existing, operating business in the Toll
Road Industrial Park and he needs to
expand it. Purchase of portion of Lot 3
will allow Crystal Mountain Water to
expand and will leave four acres of Lot 3
for another business to purchase. The staff
also recommends that they work with
Eagle Freight to find an alternate location
for their business.
WWPDATATOMMSM)10698.MIN -22-
