South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Special Meeting - January 23, 1998
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
g. continued....
education program and believes that the
program will provide a degree of
education for children in the community
that don't have availability to computers
in their schools.
Mr. Hunt asked how the computer
education facility integrates with the
medical facility. Mr. Bancroft stated that
Memorial Hospital's role is the health of
the community and by educating children,
in a broad sense, helps the community be
healthier.
Mrs. Kolata commented that the price per
square foot is the same as what was
originally proposed and was part of the
original Contract for Sale of Land with
Trammell Crow which is being replaced
by this Agreement. In the Agreement,
there is a payment due on an annual basis
which is a "common area" charge that is
on a graduated scale and will eventually
reach $150,000 a year from the year 2007
and thereafter.
There are a number of easements having
to do with foundations, elevators and
public access, etc. The City's time for
construction and completion of the
parking garage has been modified and is
anticipated to be completed in March of
1999. The public plaza is anticipated to
be completed in August of 1999; the
Memorial Health Plex is anticipated to be
completed in February of 2000.
F:\ HOME\ CPHIPPS \WPDATA\COMMSN\012398.MIN -9-
