South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Special Meeting - January 2, 1998
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
e. continued....
strategy. The market analysis is the next
activity to take place.
Proposals were received from several
firms. The staff recommended accepting
the proposal from Development Concepts
because it best addressed the idea of how
to go through a market analysis for this
site. Development Concepts' fee is
$28,000. That includes a number of
different studies, interviews and market
analysis. Redevelopment has been doing a
number of things— appraising the
building, environmental work on the site
and working with the property owner,
Allied Products, out of Chicago.
The concept is to have a plan for re -use of
the entire site that may include demolition
of buildings. If the buildings were to be
demolished, what type of development
should we be seeking? How should the
site be laid -out to maximize development
and are infrastructure improvements
needed?
There are over 30 acres of land on this site
and a lot of the buildings on the site are
obsolete.
Ms. Schwartz asked if the Commission
will own all of the data that Development
Concepts collects. Mrs. Kolata responded
that as part of the agreement, the
Commission will own the data that is
collected.
F:\ HOME\ CPHIPPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\010298.MIN -8-
