South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - December 19, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
r. continued....
Commission has any questions or I can
leap to the Studebaker Museum. What
we're proposing is the acquisition of this
55,000 sf site for the construction of the
new museum, outdoor science and youth
play area and parking and exhibit areas to
support the Museum.
(Jon Hunt presented site plans of the
Studebaker Museum.)
JON HUNT: This is a proposed plan. The
site that we're talking about purchasing is
here.
(Jon Hunt pointed to the area located on
the Studebaker Museum site plan.)
JON HUNT: It is formed roughly like this
L. The new Museum will go on the Main
Street side. The play and science area will
be in this area. Proposed use of the
building, here, will be for restoration of
vehicles and maintenance of vehicles. A
large parking area of approximately 140
spaces with Coveleski right across the
street with their parking area and the
planned development of a Transpo parking
garage down here, which is planned to
have potential connection to the new
Museum, all start creating that synergy
that is needed in the Southwest quadrant of
the downtown. They will support one
another. Outdoor exhibits that the
Museum often has, bringing in hundreds
and hundreds of vehicles, can use this
F:\HOME\CPHIPPS\WPDATA\COMMSN\121997.MIN -39-
