South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - December 19, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
r. continued....
believe that the staff is bringing forward is
a proposal for your consideration that is
appropriate to the existing South Bend
Central Development Area Plan. It is a
very reasonable approach in carrying out
the charge that is in the 1985 South Bend
Central Development Area Plan. I'm
going to talk a little about two specific
parcels, but you can take my remarks to
cover both the actions that you've taken in
the past, which was to add one parcel to
the acquisition list; and, an action which
you may be considering in the future, to
look at the parking lot that First Source
owns. So when I reference a number of
these items and issues, I'm going to be
talking about the full site —the full quarter
block. In addition to that, I would like to
confirm that what is being proposed by the
staff to the Commission is in conformity
with Area Plan's Comprehensive Plan that
was adopted, I believe, in the early '70's.
The plan called for dense commercial
development in the downtown area,
particularly in this area.
ANNE BRUNEEL: Jon just for the
record ... he is referring to a diagram of
downtown South Bend building coverage.
Why don't you mark that Exhibit A. As
you refer to the map, we'll refer to this in
the record as Exhibit A and if you could
just briefly describe how you have that
drawn out and what those various areas
represent.
F:\ HOME\CPHIPPS \WPDATA\COMMSN\121997.MIN -25-
