South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 21, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
c. continued....
One thing I do know that we have had
communication about up through this past
week, my client hope to have the window
sash and jambs painted and primed before
the weather had a chance to break. Since
the weather has broken, we went ahead
and boarded up the second floor which
was a specific request of Jim Markle,
assistant to the building commissioner.
Mrs. Kolata responded that to her
understanding, Mr. Moerlein and Carol
Minker have applied for an easement from
the city through its Board of Public Works
for encroaching into the alley right -of -way
for the fire escape. Anne Bruneel noted
that Mr. Moerlein and Ms. Minker also
applied for an easement for all of the
windows as well as for the fire escape on
the west side of the building. Mrs. Kolata
explained that she went to that meeting
and asked that a permit not be issued at
this time for an easement for encroaching
into the alley right -of -way for the fire
escape and windows because the building
was being looked at for acquisition. The
Board of Public Works asked at that point
if the different city departments had
written reports or have been asked for
reports on this request. It was sent to all
city departments for review. Mrs. Kolata
didn't believe, to her knowledge, that the
request has come back to the Board of
Public Works for action at this point.
HAH0ME\CPHIPPS\ WPDATA \COMMSN\ l 12197.MIN -13-
