South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 21, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
c. continued....
My client has done some work removing
some of the boarded up plywood. All of
the masonry is intact and is structurally
sound. I know that the mentality of a
developer in 1997 is, "I want a clean
block, give me a clean block or else I am
not going to build." I don't think the
parcel that we are asking you to retain
would impact or would change the mind of
a developer making an offer on that
parcel. I think that this can still be a win -
win situation.
Thank you for your time and if there are
any questions about the specific
architectural proposal that we have....
Ms. Schwartz asked what is the status of
an issuance of a building permit for the
work that is to be done on the building at
214 W. Jefferson Boulevard.
GREG KIL: We have worked with Don
Fozo, Building Commissioner, and Jim
Markle in the preliminary code review and
have worked to send down state to
Indianapolis to use an exterior fire stair as
a second means of egress. That has been
in communication since this summer, up to
this past week. One of the things that we
have also done is confirmed the work that
has been done on the property that does
not require a permit because it is non-
structural and is basically cosmetic work.
HAHOMETPHIPPSMPDATATOMMSNA 12197.MIN -12-
