$70,000. In the interim we would tarp the roof to start to dry out the building and stop additional water infiltration.
The Town, through its Redevelopment Commission or other means, provides a lot onto which the building will be
relocated and assists with other in-kind services as may be identified such as traffic control during the move.
AEP donates the building to Indiana Landmarks along with the $84,000 cost to remove the building to a new site and
construct a crawl space foundation for the building. AEP provides in-kind services to drop the necessary electric lines
along the agreed to route and removes and backfills the existing foundation after the building is removed. AEP will
assist in determining the best route to the new site working with Lykowski,lNDOT and other utilities as necessary.
Indiana Landmarks will work with the Town and interested residents to raise $30,000 in cash or in-kind services by
May 25'h to cover additional costs associated with the relocation such as temporary drops for other utilities and traffic
signals. In our work these costs typically are the responsibility of the donor wishing to demolish the building. In this
situation we are endeavoring to lessen AEP's cost by involving community members and other possible sources.
Taken in whole this proposal works to balance the investment of the partners with that of AEP. Upon agreement
Indiana Landmarks, community leaders and residents are willing to testify in favor of the project when the HPC hears
the Certificate of Appropriateness application for relocation. While we are not entirely sure sufficient information can
be prepared in time for the April meeting — here is a potential timeframe:
April 2 Historic Preservation Commission deadline COA application for April Commission meeting.
April 16 Meeting for hearing on demolition of auxiliary building and proposal for relocation.
April 17 Begin process for permits for relocation — utilities, traffic, INDOT, site construction permits. This is
expected to take 45 days under ideal circumstances
May 25 No later than this date — Indiana Landmarks will provide notice to AEP concerning decision to relocate or
terminate project. All involved will agree not to interfere with demolition permit if decision is to terminate
relocation project.
June 1 If relocation is to proceed, Lykowski on site to begin work, funds transferred to Indiana Landmarks.
June 30 Building off site
Below is a brief outline about Indiana Landmarks including a link to our web page for more information about our
organization.
