This outline offers AEP a path to remedy
hold up with the HVTL construction while affording an opportunity for positive public relations. Since our
first discussion on site on March IT", and cognizant of AEP's concern about the HVTL construction
timeframe, project costs and timeframes have been secured, possible sites identified and commitments for
partnership involvement and funding have begun. While many approvals and logistics remain, the following
• represents the basic agreement that would allow us to take the necessary next steps for approval by the board
of Indiana Landmarks, the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County (HPC),
new site control, and initiation of other building department and utility reviews and approvals.
Media and public relations
The partners involved are prepared to help spread the positive word. Indiana Landmarks will utilize our print
and electronic media footprint before, during and after the project including our magazine, Indiana
Preservation (reaching 7,500 addresses), web page (57,000 monthly visits) blog, and electronic newsletters
Posts to our Twitter and Snapehat will bring added interest and awareness to our followers. Through our
marketing department we are willing to draft and circulate — with prior review and approval of AEP - press
releases about the project to our media list. The partners including the leadership with the Town of Lakeville
and its Redevelopment Commission (Town), HPC and local concerned residents will utilize their social media
channels and other outlets.
In addition to print, on-line and media attention, experience shows signage on the building before and during
the move provides outstanding exposure and media interest — especially the day of a relocation. Nothing
invites public interest like a closed road with a building in the middle of it. Indiana Landmarks will develop
and produce (with AEP's review) signage to place on the building highlighting AEP.
Relocation
Indiana Landmarks, will manage and own the project including contracting for: the relocation and associated
new construction. The building mover identified for the project is Lykowski Construction — a firm with
significant building relocation experience in our area. Lykowskiis insured, has visited the site, and concurs
that the building can be safely relocated. The costs noted below are based on his and his sub:contractors
• pricing. Indiana Landmarks' project management will be done as an in-kind investment into the project. Upon
relocation Indiana Landmarks will undertake exterior rehabilitation of the building estimated at $65,000 to
INDIANA LANDMARKS REVITALIZES COMMUNITIES, RECONNECTS US TO OUR HERITAGE, AND SAVES MEANINGFUL PLACES.
