236 South Notre Dame Avenue
South Bend, IN 46617
Ms. Elicia Feasel
Executive Director
Historic Preservation Commission
125 S Lafayette Boulevard #100
South Bend, IN 46601
Dear Ms. Feasel, et al.
August 2, 2017
I am excited to submit the following application for the position of Deputy Director with the Historic Preservation
Commission of St. Joseph County.
I am currently the Public Programs Coordinator in the Marketing Department at The HistoryMuseurn here in South
Bend, where I am responsible for contacting, scheduling, and hosting our speakers, performances, specialty tours,
and promotional events. Reaching out and building relationships with individuals and organizations from diverse
backgrounds and professions remains the highlight of my current position. I succeed in this role because of
thorough event planning and research, conscientious and thoughtful appreciation of my constituents and guests, and
effective and timely communication with my partners. As an example, I arranged for May's lecturer to be Mr. John
Parsons, Vice President of Planning and Marketing with the Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District (1`IICTD).
His lecture coincided to the day with the vote in the State legislature to fund the railway's "double -track initiative,"
which plans to drastically reduce transit times to and from South Bend.
Prior to moving to South Bend I completed my Bachelors of Arts in History at Purdue University West Lafayette,
focusing on the history of technology and innovation (where I worked closely with Professors Michael G. Smith and
Vernard Foley). History remains my greatest passion. Sharing that passion is my greatest pleasure — both in my
hobbies (with over two decades of living history experience) and in my professional pursuits. Behind my academic
success lies a foundation of sixteen years of customer service experience; this provides invaluable insight in my
daily exchanges and interactions and ensures that I am constantly aware of the human element in all of my activities.
I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my experiences, qualifications, and interests can benefit the
Historic Preservation Commission and assist in the execution of its mission. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Adam Toering
C: 765.637.8998
E: actoering@gmail.com
