Educational/Promotional Efforts <br />►► Organize, develop, and present educational programs (speeches, public programs, workshops, <br />etc.) to a variety of audiences across the County. <br />►► Supports Executive Director to communicate with media outlets (newspaper, television, radio, <br />social media, etc.) as a spokesperson for preservation -related issues in the County. <br />►► Supports Executive Director to communicate with elected officials and community leaders <br />throughout the region. <br />►► Effectively market publications, activities and miscellaneous preservation efforts. <br />Sunervisory Functions <br />►► Assists with supervision of staff members including a contracted Preservation Specialist/inspector <br />as funding permits. This may include interns and volunteers at various times. <br />►► Assist in determining staffing needs; train staff when applicable. <br />►► Assist with the Agency's budget; prepare and present reports to the Commission and City and <br />County Councils. <br />Other Functions <br />►► Prepare for and attend monthly HPC meetings and participate on committees as required. <br />Complete monthly HPC meeting minutes and distribute. Update meeting binder each month. <br />►► Perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed by the Executive Director and Historic <br />Preservation Commission Board. <br />►► Answering phone calls <br />►► File maintenance <br />►► Fulfill research requests <br />►► Minimum Maintenance Standards surveys <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education/Exoerience <br />►► Bachelor's degree in historic preservation or a related field is essential. <br />►► Demonstrate ambition and relevant experience in the field of historic preservation, government <br />agency, administration and/or community development organization. <br />►► Valid Drivers' License, required. <br />Knowledqe, Skills and/orAbilities <br />►► Knowledge of historic preservation principles, as well as national, state, and local laws and <br />procedures related to historic preservation; ability to apply the Secretary of the Interiors Standards <br />for the Treatment of Historic Properties. <br />►► Knowledge of governmental framework and processes. <br />►► Basic construction knowledge/familiarity. <br />►► Ability to recognize various architectural styles; knowledge of architectural history as well as <br />national, state, and local history. <br />►► Ability to understand and interpret a variety of technical data, such as architectural and <br />engineering drawings and specifications, primary and secondary research sources, maps, etc. <br />►► Familiarity with real-estate development and business law; business investment and project/real- <br />estate pro -formas. <br />►► Successful marketing skills including authoring press releases, designing collateral and <br />communicating with media and through social media. <br />►► Knowledge of budgeting processes or ability to learn. <br />►► Excellent ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people, both on a one-on-one basis <br />and in group settings, including public -speaking engagements (such as presentations, hearings, <br />and meetings). <br />►► Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment. <br />►► Ability to multi -task and manage projects within time constraints and deadlines. <br />Equal Opportunity Employer <br />
