31 December On site meeting with Steve Szaday and Charles Horner concerning <br />the replacement of the deteriorating exterior wood doors of the Emmaus Lutheran <br />Church. He has met with Donat and selected a wood door style that closely matches the <br />original doors. Emphasized that the original hardware and lead glass windows be re -used <br />in the replacements. Met year end deadlines. Responded to Clarice Davis' phone call <br />about the possibility of landmarking the family home at 135 Birdsell Street which was also <br />the second location of the first black funeral home. <br />2013 <br />1 January OFFICE CLOSED FOR NEW YEAR'S DAY <br />2 January Meeting with Steve at 612-614 Carroll concerning the moisture issues on <br />the clapboards. Mr. Gonzales proposed vinyl siding; which is totally inappropriate. Steve <br />provided the owners with 84 Lumber as a source for stock to match reveal on house. Steve <br />and I photographed 135 Birdsell Street. Composed Local Landmark letter and packet for <br />135 Birdsell and sent draft to Larry for any corrections or clarifications. Sent the letter out <br />to Mrs. Clarice Davis. <br />3 January General Office. File clean out. Organize Budget sheets for 2013 Location <br />Report. <br />4 January Responded with information to inquiry from Rolanda Hughes concerning <br />property taxes on the two houses owned in Edgewater and Riverside Drive. Worked with <br />purchasing on delayed delivery of Camera ordered in November 2012. Picked up small <br />box of photographs from Mr. Robert Victor, 1705 LaSalle 232 9618. Composed a draft <br />letter outlining the Preservation Trades Program concept to NDU: John Stamper, Krupah <br />Uplekar and Alan de Freese. Reviewed the paperwork for Melissa Paulsen's class for a <br />business plan for our Preservation Trades Program. <br />5 January Finished Draft to NDU. General Office Work. Turned in vagrant sleeping <br />on Ambassadors for Christ's Lafayette porch to Derek Dieter. E-mailed Teresa Shuter, <br />Deputy Auditor, about the possibility of departments accepting debit or credit cards. <br />7 January E-mailed NDU Preservation oriented professors with Preservation Trades <br />Proposal. Researched 405 W. Wayne -National Register and Local Landmark for general <br />public inquiry. Responded to several e-mails from Charley Horner of Emmaus Lutheran <br />Church, Local Landmark, on solutions for the doors. Reiterated that the original hardware <br />and small stained glass windows would need to be re -installed into the new wood ones. <br />8 January Meeting with Sue Solmos and Elicia about the Preservation Trades <br />Program and Revolving Loan'Program funded by the Historic District Bus Tours. Sue <br />suggested partnering with the Myron Larimer, Realtor Association; Rich Oswald of <br />Builders Association and SBCSC Laura Marzotto for the Trades Program. She also agreed <br />that Local Banks and Credit Unions would be the place to start for the revolving loan <br />program and to partner with Indiana Landmarks. HPC Staff will need to discuss with <br />attorney, Larry Meteiver to see if HPC can even do a revolving loan program. <br />
