Meeting a Jewish Federation <br />office of the cemetery to preview records storage and discuss management. Develop presentation and <br />IWet <br />nto Parks Foundation on the topic of South Bend Cemeteries history, current projects and <br />tinued maintenance collaborations. Adapting presentation for the Parks Board. Presenting to Parks <br />rd on same topic plus Local Landmark designation. Meeting with Travis Childs of Center for History to <br />bring him up to speed on the whirlwind of things happening with the cemeteries. Meeting at O'Brien with <br />the grant team and Heather to get her under contract to coordinate the digitization project. Learned <br />that the cemeteries weren't even mentioned in the Parks five year Master Plan. <br />14. Downtown South Bend, Inc. First Friday's -Attend 2013 Committee meeting. <br />15. East Bank Village -Correspondence with Bart Bennett of Odyssian regarding abandoned properties <br />that could be acquired and moved to the site. Committed to more comprehensively survey the <br />buildings in the East Bank vicinity. <br />16. Local Historic Districts tour -Provide one hour premier to about 30 public at WNIT. Delivering guide <br />booklets and rack cards to partners. <br />17. Vacant and Abandoned Housing Task Force -Preview agendas. Received V & A map from City <br />Engineering GIS department. <br />18. Staff meeting with Catherine and Steve to discuss the development of a Sustainable Preservation <br />Trade School and Resource Depot that would be a collaboration between Historic Preservation <br />Commission of South Bend & St. Joseph County, City of South Bend, Redevelopment Commission, Notre <br />Dame Architecture, Notre Dame Office of Sustainability, and Notre Dame School of Business. <br />Attend ribbon cutting for Downtown South Bend 3rd season Holiday Pop Up Shops. <br />20. Historic Preservation Education Grant 2013 -Meeting with The Music Village to discuss applying for the <br />grant next year to develop an interior tour of the JMS Building (where TMV is housed) while learning <br />about instruments and music of the period of the buildings construction, 1909. <br />21. Attend ribbon cutting for Purple Porch Coop adaptively reusing a building in East Bank Village. <br />22. State Theatre -Assist Drew, general manager with historic research of brewing locally. Promoting <br />TheStateSB blog. Encouraging people to tell their story of the State to the blog. <br />23. Attend City of South Bend Minority Business Outreach event in which all South Bend departments <br />showcased their services, highlighting on ways to partner with the City. HPC was not invited to exhibit <br />although it would have been appropriate to include HPC. <br />24. Attend Chamber's Young Professionals Hard Hat tour of Mishawaka High Senior Apartments <br />adaptive reuse, guided by Mayor Wood, City Planner Ken Prince and Construction Manager Roger. <br />25. Attend Michiana History Group at IUSB for a digital preservation workshop taught by Chapin Park <br />resident Sara Fuchs. <br />26. Attend Green Solutions lecture at IUSB by the General Services Administration, the Federal <br />—ernments property management arm. <br />27. Visit to 520 East LaSalle, LaSalle Bank to meet with owner Mark Wenkus. He is a concrete countertop <br />craftsman and the building is his workshop - amazing work, amazing building. <br />2 <br />
