Assistant Director's Report HPC Meeting 11.19.2012, 1. Local Landmarks - a. 50106 Bittersweet Trail -Assist granddaughter of original owner with historical research. b. 307 Michigan Avon Theatre (recommended) -Contacted by Cameron Henry of the national �n langered Spaces list. Gave Mr. Henry an orientation of downtown South Bend and walked around Avon block. Assisted Mr. Henry with his research in HPC Resource Center. Present Staff Report at Common Council committee meeting. Attend Common Council meeting in which they denied Local Landmark designation. 2. Local Historic Districts -Tour districts. a. Taylor's Field -meeting new owner Sheila at 519 S. St. Joseph to discuss her plan for rehabilitating the neglected, deteriorated, once deemed for demolition former mansion of the Stephenson's of Stephenson Mill family. 3. Staff Reports - a. 14912 Brick Road, former Harris Township school house-COA#2012-1105 Fence 4. Routine Maintenance Exclusions -none. 5. St. Joseph County -Correspondence with Michelle regarding Postcard Project. Her hometown in New Jersey was affected by hurricane so she is set back on schedule with the project. 5. National Register of Historic Places -none. 6. Attend 10.15.2012 meeting. Prepare draft of October meeting minutes and forward to n--nmissioners. Revise as requested. Print minutes from October meeting for November meeting. Print —nmissioner and liaison mailing labels. 7. Restore Michiana Series 2010-2011 Window Restoration Production -Begin marketing pieces for marketing more broadly than SJC. 8. Restore Michiana Series 2012 -Updating calendar on www.RestoreMichiona.com.. The calendar has a reformatted, fresh look. Developed a facebook page for Restore Michiana. 9. Internships -Mail summer 2012 Intern Resolutions. Oversee and offer guidance for the following projects: a. Michelle: Postcards -Follow up with Michelle. c. Fabian: Minimum Maintenance Standards -Working with Fabian on his project. 10. Rushton Adaptive Reuse Tour -Meeting with Jessica Kitchens to continue planning. Developing tour weekend printed pieces. Developing Power Point presentations. 11. Redevelopment Commission -Preview agendas. 12. Studebaker Bendix Heritage Trail -Assisted Andy Beckman of Studebaker with researching HPCs Resource Center pertaining to the trail. j Team South Bend Cemeteries -Presented to Achievement Forum on the topic of history of City vetery and the need to survey the damaged stones. Provided Virginia Black of SBT with a scoop on vandalism situation at City. Guided an informal tour of City to the AF (in the rain) with a South Bend Tribune photographer. Interviewed with Virginia for the story. Meeting to determine next steps on digitization after not receiving the grant. Meeting at HPC with Heather Yarborough and Deb Kuehn to
