Director's Report February, 2011 25 January Prepared and mailed approved COAs. Met with Mike Wheeler, owner of 13271 Adams Road, County Landmarked Snyder Farm about his concerns with the proposed Granger Paths putting a ten foot wide path in front of his home. I will be attending the February I meeting of Granger Paths in the Harris Library to support him in having the width of the path reduced in front of his home to the width of a sidewalk. Followed up with Brandon Bartow via e-mail on storm windows for the Riverview Gate House and railings for the rear steps; arranged a 26 January meeting on these two issues. Discussed the topic of the 17 March lunch and Learn presentation with Sue Solmos. 26 January Completed two 106 Reviews for SJ County grants/loans for interior repairs. Met with Brandon Bartow of Bartow Builders of Manitowoc, W1 about the proposed storm windows for the Riverview Gate House and the handrails in the rear. Gave him copies of the applications and of the HPC meetings COA deadlines schedule. Researched Copert and Place Homes for Mr. Fred Zahrt and referred him to NICH and the Local History area of the SJC Library. Arranged to meet with Stephanie at NICH about sharing research on places of worship for the ON -CELL Service Tour. 27 January Met with Stephanie McCune Bell and provided her with information on Sts. Adalbert and Hedwig, Sunnyside Presbyterian, Sons of Israel, AME Olivet and First United Methodist. Contacted Kelly Kimmich of the Convention and Visitors Bureau with the information on the Serbian Orthodox Monastery near New Carlisle [ Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Abbess Makrina 574 654-79941• Researched some properties currently in Eddy Street Commons for a Tide Company and referred them to Phil Byrd at that Office of South Bend Heritage. Attended Judy Roschek's retirement party at NNN. She worked closely with HPC on Enviornmental/106 Reviews for grants and loans and demolitions. Had conversations with Don Inks and Phil Bryd about the Wenger House and the LaSalle Hotel. Visited with Jeff Gibney, Chris Dressel, Pam Myers and Mayor Steve. 28 January Turned in payroll paperwork Researched record retention limitations for Office Reorganization scheduled for 22-25 February. Spoke with Cynthia Rynsberger about the demolition of 632 Portage. She wants to be on sight because her building is next door. She also said that Katiki will not be opening the store at 626 Portage. E-mailed Wayne with message to contact her about other uses that he recommended to her. 31 January Spoke with Marcia Kokot concerning COA for a front door at her rental property at 715 Park Avenue to be heard at the 28 February HPC meeting. Began to sort through the spiral bound information booklets in the library. Discarded outdated information or paper information that are now up dated and on-line. Called Charlie Kirkpatrick to discuss his assessment of the windows at 537 Edgewater also on the Agenda for 28 February. He will send a report.
