Director's Report <br />February, 2011 <br />25 January Prepared and mailed approved COAs. Met with Mike Wheeler, owner of <br />13271 Adams Road, County Landmarked Snyder Farm about his concerns with the <br />proposed Granger Paths putting a ten foot wide path in front of his home. I will be <br />attending the February I meeting of Granger Paths in the Harris Library to support him in <br />having the width of the path reduced in front of his home to the width of a sidewalk. <br />Followed up with Brandon Bartow via e-mail on storm windows for the Riverview Gate <br />House and railings for the rear steps; arranged a 26 January meeting on these two issues. <br />Discussed the topic of the 17 March lunch and Learn presentation with Sue Solmos. <br />26 January Completed two 106 Reviews for SJ County grants/loans for interior repairs. <br />Met with Brandon Bartow of Bartow Builders of Manitowoc, W1 about the proposed storm <br />windows for the Riverview Gate House and the handrails in the rear. Gave him copies of <br />the applications and of the HPC meetings COA deadlines schedule. Researched Copert <br />and Place Homes for Mr. Fred Zahrt and referred him to NICH and the Local History area <br />of the SJC Library. Arranged to meet with Stephanie at NICH about sharing research on <br />places of worship for the ON -CELL Service Tour. <br />27 January Met with Stephanie McCune Bell and provided her with information on <br />Sts. Adalbert and Hedwig, Sunnyside Presbyterian, Sons of Israel, AME Olivet and First <br />United Methodist. Contacted Kelly Kimmich of the Convention and Visitors Bureau with <br />the information on the Serbian Orthodox Monastery near New Carlisle [ Nativity of the <br />Virgin Mary, Abbess Makrina 574 654-79941• Researched some properties currently in <br />Eddy Street Commons for a Tide Company and referred them to Phil Byrd at that Office <br />of South Bend Heritage. Attended Judy Roschek's retirement party at NNN. She worked <br />closely with HPC on Enviornmental/106 Reviews for grants and loans and demolitions. <br />Had conversations with Don Inks and Phil Bryd about the Wenger House and the LaSalle <br />Hotel. Visited with Jeff Gibney, Chris Dressel, Pam Myers and Mayor Steve. <br />28 January Turned in payroll paperwork Researched record retention limitations for <br />Office Reorganization scheduled for 22-25 February. Spoke with Cynthia Rynsberger <br />about the demolition of 632 Portage. She wants to be on sight because her building is next <br />door. She also said that Katiki will not be opening the store at 626 Portage. E-mailed <br />Wayne with message to contact her about other uses that he recommended to her. <br />31 January Spoke with Marcia Kokot concerning COA for a front door at her rental <br />property at 715 Park Avenue to be heard at the 28 February HPC meeting. Began to sort <br />through the spiral bound information booklets in the library. Discarded outdated <br />information or paper information that are now up dated and on-line. Called Charlie <br />Kirkpatrick to discuss his assessment of the windows at 537 Edgewater also on the Agenda <br />for 28 February. He will send a report. <br />
