following what I'm explaining? Because right now the edge of the clapboard follows to
the edge of that casing, that's how they work, and the aluminum is on top of that. Taking
off the aluminum you'll have all that back. There's noway to put more clapboard -
whether it's clapboard or cement board or whatever new material over the existing
clapboard and have it work with the corners and the trim on the siding around the
windows. Does that make any sense?
Maradik: Yeah, I think it does.
Zeiger: And so I've just seen enough of these sort of these types of aluminum siding
installations that we just know what it's going to look like. It's all going to be there
except for the crown above the window, that's going to be lost. So if we're... it's a
question as much as a comment I was just curious how you're going to install it, and my
assumption is, and it needs to be clarified, you're going to have to put new strips down
the front, and deal with all that trim somehow. It gets complicated after some time. I do
have a couple of questions about the Cushing Street thing since you mentioned
Landmarks. It's kind of surprising, especially two years, that's pretty radical, that tells
me something else is going on with that house. Does it have blown -in insulation?
Maradik: No.
Zeiger: That's really bizarre. Who was the contractor?
Maradik: I don't know.
Zeiger: I'd be really curious, if you could let me know, I'd be curious to follow up on
that. It's not...
Maradik: Wait, I actually do know, it was Home Works, but they've gone bankrupt.
Zeiger: There you go. So, I just, I'm suspect of that job because something isn't right
there and NMN saying that followed the specifications to the letter, I ... two years to have a
paint failure, less than two years for it to fail tells me that Home Works didn't do what
they said that they were going to do. There's just no way, that if you do what we say, that
in a year that paint falls off the house.
Sporleder: Can I jump in there? I was going to ask a similar question. nat was the
subsurface that they painted? Did they take it back down to the original wood and then
refinish it, or did they paint on top of whatever siding was there.
Maradik: I believe it went back down.
Klucszinski: And what was the grade of primer?
Zeiger: I think that there's a lot of questions, I'm not sure, I guess we can talk about that,
for the petitioner, I don't know maybe it is, maybe it isn't germane to this. I would like to
follow up on that.
Sporleder: I think that what we're leading to on that is taking the aluminum siding off,
so you don't know what you've got until you see what you've got. But if you're intending
to take the aluminum siding off, why are you taking it off.
Maradik: Because the NMN is rehabbing the entire property to sell, so that kind of goes
back to what Catherine had said previously we'd gotten a C of A for all of those other
items. So, we're just coming back now to put on the cement board.
Sporleder: I guess that I concur with what both Tim and Todd were saying, we need to
see what's there before we approve the cement board. I don't have any problem
approving the cement board once we understand what we're dealing with and how it's
going to be handled.
Klusczinski: Is it fair to say, and certainly staff should chime in on this, that if we give
them approval to take the aluminum siding off and the NNN would have every intention
of removing the aluminum siding no matter what they were going to do, that that's
probably something that we could all agree to, would they offer the house far sale with
the aluminum siding on?
Maradik: That would be something that would have to be considered.
Klusczinski: Ok. For our purposes, at least whenever possible the original building
materials should be restored. In order to evaluate what's under that aluminum, is there a
way Shawn, within this C of A that we might be able to consider and rework it to at least
:
