Inglesby: My name is Martin Inglesby, and the address is 1228 E. Wayne Street North. My wife
and I just moved in thereat the end of June. There's a crab apple tree in the yard, which I think
from an aesthetic standpoint swallows the yard, leaves crab apples allover the grass, and the
roots are up out of the ground, so we'd like to get permission to help preserve the area. One of
the bushes that's in the pictures is dead now, and the tree is blocking sunlight to the right side of
the house, so we'd like to get it taken out.
Klusczinski: Very good. You are the property owner?
Inglesby: Yes.
Klusczinski: Just to clary. The Chair recognizes Commissioners with questions for the
petitioner.
Sporleder: Are we only acting upon removal of the crab apple tree and then there will be another
C of A for the landscaping that will replace it? I don't see a landscaping plan with this petition.
Inglesby: We're not really going to replace it, just re -sod the ground and get the stump removed
and sod it so that's it's an open area.
Klusczinski: Very good, any other questions?
Sporleder: Excuse me, this did say something about removing something... some bushes, and
being replaced with something more appropriate. I guess I would be more comfortable if I knew
what was being prepared here.
Inglesby: At this time we're not really sure what we're going to replace it with. The bush to the
right that kind of sits next to the crab apple tree is the one that's dead. And its the same type of
bush on the other side that's blocking the window. I had a landscaping company come out and
we're not really sure if we're going to wait till the Spring to do that or what but we're hoping to
get the crab apple removed. Yes, and the two bushes, the one on the right is dead right now, so
we need to get that removed and replaced with a more appropriate bush.
Sporleder: So you'll come back to us again for the replacement?
Inglesby: Sure.
Klusczinski: You wouldn't have any problem with us striking the phrase where it suggests that
you would be replacing it?
Inglesby: That's fine.
Klusczinski: To clarify the record? Ok.
Inglesby: So, I just have to let you know what type of bushes I'll be putting in there, is that how
that works?
Klusczinski: Yes. The reverse of what you're here for tonight.
Inglesby: Ok, that 's fine.
Sporleder: And you can check with Catherine because she's got a....
Hostetler: He has a copy of the book.
Klusczinski: Any other questions?
Patrick: I want to make a comment, just reading the landscape assessment, about the East
Wayne Street local historic district. (quoting) To preserve the character of the district, each
residence should have either trees in the tree lawn or a large tree in the front yard
Hostetler: He's got trees in the tree lawn.
Patrick: Ok, that's all I've got.
Klusczinski: Very good With that, the Chair opens the public hearing. Is there any member of
the public wishing to speak in support of the petition? Any member of the public wishing to speak
in opposition? Hearing none on both occasions, l close the public hearing. I'll entertain a
motion.
Zeiger:1'll make a motion to approve C of A 2007-0719 as submitted.
Patrick: I second.
Sporleder: Can I ask one more question? In this picture there appears to be another tree that is
very close to the house, is that something that's coming out with this front stuff?
Inglesby: No, it's not. That's a birch, I believe.
Klusczinski: Motion is on the table we need a second.
Patrick: I seconded.
01
