time the report comes out and we have our meeting on the third Monday of the month it
ends up being a little behind. So, what I was thinking about doing was if everything
looks fine then I'll just say so; because I read the whole thing. If something doesn't look
right then I will get in touch with Catherine and if we need to take action on it, then I'll
make a presentation on it.
Joann Sporleder asked how long the report is and where it comes from. Catherine
Hostetler briefly informed the commission how and when the treasurer's report is made
up and who makes it up in the auditor's office. Joann Sporleder then asked if there was
anyway the treasurer's report could be consolidated down to a one page report so that the
rest of the commission could look it over and see where the commission is financially.
John stated that he would figure out a way to consolidate the treasurer's report so that the
rest of the commission could look the report over as well.
C. COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. President's report
LYNN PATRICK: I have nothing to report that wasn't already on the agenda.
2. South Hold Awards Committee
Approval of Breakfast Expense
There is a copy of the Moms Performing Arts Center for the South Hold Awards
breakfast pamphlet in your meeting packet. Every item is listed and broken down
individually and the total is $2,610.00 dollars. By charging a fee often dollars per person
we will substantially reduce what we're paying out of pocket for this. We will still be
paying $610.00 dollars unless we wish to increase the cost. We could recover all of our
costs for $13.05; however, I think $10.00 per person would be better. There is also a
possibility down the road that we might be able to recoup some of our cost. Since there
is enough space there in the banquet hall; we have discussed having local venders and
contractors whose products and services are consistent with HPC set up some displays.
We should have some more information on that at our next commission meeting.
I move that we accept this as presented and that Catherine be allowed to contract to this
in the amount given of $2,610.00 dollars.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
Meeting date for speaker selection and awards
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: We did receive some information from the National
Trust. They informed us that there is not just going to be a preservation week this year;
but, instead the whole month of May is going to be a preservation month. So this is
going to be a month long event.
LYNN PATRICK: We will have a meeting this Friday at 5:00 pm. at the Historic
Preservation Office to discuss this matter further. I plan to attend the meeting, Catherine
plans to attend the meeting and anyone else who wants to come is welcome to come. I
would also like to limit that meeting to a half hour.
3. Standards and Maintenance
344 Sunnyside, East Wayne LHD
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: That was the meeting that was held over at the Miller's
house on a very cold chilly afternoon. Before they engaged their architect they wanted to
meet with the Standards and Maintenance Committee and with staff to see what they
could do as far as adding on to their home; because, they lived in the East Wayne Street
district and they had a comer lot. We were able to come up with some general ideas for
