2. Legal —(no report)
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Mini Fair on LaSalle Street/Large Street Fair Partnership w/ HLFI
(See white copies of "Old House Fair" draft outline of proposed dates of the event: Fall
2005 and May 2006, Old House Workshop Preliminary Budget, and copy of HPC
proposed training outline in HPC meeting binder).
Bob Yapp briefly went through and discussed with commission members the four
different events they have scheduled. He also asked the commission for their approval
and support to be a main co- sponsor of the Old House Unveiling Mini Fair on August 27,
2005 along with Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. Bob also said that if the
commission would allow Wayne Doolittle to be his assistant during the Window
Restoration College event that is to be held on Sept. 23, 24, 25, and October 7, 8, 9 he
would not be expected to pay the fee that is being charged for this event. Bob stated that
he needed the following from the commission:
1. For the Old House Unveiling Mini Fair; I am looking at getting some benches,
and see if staff can assist us with the street blocking.
2. For the Window Restoration College and the Old House Fair; I am looking at
postage based on our mailing lists, and some staff time for the Old House Fair on
May 21 & 22, 2006.
JOHN OXIAN: I will make a motion that we participate in these events.
JOANN SPORLEDER: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
LYNN PATRICK: Let the record show that we will assist in getting benches for the
Window Restoration College and Old House Unveiling Fair if necessary, staff assist with
these events, and assist with the cost of postage for these events.
Chapin Park Standards and Guidelines- Neighborhood Comments
JULIE SCHUTTE: The first packet with the pink cover sheet has the comments the
commission received between July 6' and July 13` The second packet is the actual
document that the public would have been able to view and make comments on. We had
a copy of this document at three locations: the HPC office, the NNN office, and the
public library. We also had it posted on our website and the Chapin Park website. As
you can see the website actually received seven comments, and the NNN office received
2 comments. Staff summary — we have attached all nine comments for the
commissioner's reference. The majority of comments came from the website and ranged
from a few short paragraphs to 14 pages. Most were favorably disposed to the guidebook
and thanked all that worked on it. There were a number of points made. Staff would
recommend that the commission attach a priority status to Mr. McKinney observations
concerning homes on Park Avenue and Chapin Place, and the comment regarding cement
board and engineered wood products (See enclosed copies in HPC meeting binder)
Commission members decided they would review the comments and the documents on
their own. Commission members were given two weeks to turn in their comments and
concerns about these documents to staff (Monday, August 1).
Brick Street on Lafayette Blvd
513 River Avenue — (See white copy Staff Report concerning 513 River
Avenue — Edgewater Place Historic District in HPC meeting binder).
0
