JULIE SCHUTTE: I received an email from a representative of INDOT regarding the Leeper Bridge.
Due to problems with the acquisition of the right-of-way, INDOT has pushed back the starting date
and the completion date of the bridge repair. They are not changing any of the specifications. They
would just like an extension until 2005 or 2006 for the previously issued CofA.
5. Legal Report: Oliver Plow Forge #2 Memorandum of
Agreement.
JOHN OXIAN: I signed the memorandum of agreement. John Livingston talked to the individual
from the Oliver Gang. I also talked with Andy before I signed the memorandum of agreement. We
talked about another building they might want to be interested in and I am supposed to call them back
on that.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
1. Eddy Street Road improvement Project, progress and request of
opinion.
JULIE SCHUTTE: I received correspondence from The Troyer Group regarding the Eddy Street
improvement Project for intersections at Eddy, Colfax, and LaSalle. They have been able to shift the
roadway so that 1028 a contributing resource from the East Washington National Register District
would not need to be removed. They request an opinion or a final vote from the historic preservation
commission about the widening project and its effect on neighboring structures.
2. St. Casimir NRD & Dunham Street Improvement Project—meeting
TBA.
MIKE DIVITA: I am with the city's division of community development. We will have a public
works project coming up on Dunham Street; which is in St. Casimir neighborhood.
We just completed some specifications for street improvements. I wanted to give you some
background information and quick overview of the project. In terms of the public works project,
(passed around a set of plans for commission members to review), is on Dunham Street from
Kosciuszko to Walnut, which is a two block area. What you see here, (refer to set of plans), is
primarily the curb and sidewalk project. We will remove and replace the curb, the sidewalk, both the
city sidewalk and the service walk, between the curb and the city sidewalk, and also renew the
driveway approaches within the city's right-of-way.
Also as part of the project we will do some tree -lawn restoration, add trees, and correct
drainage and street issues, although some of those are outside of the scope of what we do; again it is
primarily for curb and sidewalk project. The work is projected to be all within the city's right -of way.
The major changes you would see are more trees; service walks and approaches that probably go to
vacant lots will be removed. I also want to point out a few things: any brick disturbed in the area will
be replaced as it is now using the same brick. The eastern most block between Walnut and Harris is a
brick paved street that has not been covered with asphalt. As part of this project, there will not be any
changes to lighting or utility poles.
0
