users, and possibly petty thieves getting in and out of the building and using it for
improper purposes.
We received information from the inspector, and they see no alternative at this
point; but, to seek demolition. I discussed the matter with John Oxian, and he asked me
to talk with Kiel Architecture about the possibility of them taking the property as a
receivership. Kiel Architecture was not interested in that option.
JOHN OXIAN: Several years ago I tried to get this house put on the receivership
program. We had meeting with Code Enforcement regarding this. Every time code
enforcement heard back from the bank they gave another excuse and stopped us from
proceeding. That is why the house is in the condition that it is in today.
Twice, I had people who were willing to go in there and do a receivership
program. This situation is code enforcement's fault too, not just the owner's; we already
know that the owner did not give a damn about the property. Twice, code enforcement
had a chance to have receivers go in there and both times they listened to the bank instead
and failed to do this.
This is inexcusable, and I can't go along with their recommendation. I still say
that we should try for at least one more month to see if we can find a receiver; before, I
would even think about letting them come in here for demolition.
Have you called Code Enforcement yet to see if they are willing to go along with the
receivership program?
Karen stated that Code Enforcement was not willing to talk to them about any possible
proposal. John then said he would make some phone calls and if he was not able to find
out anything then Code Enforcement would have to come in with a C of A.
2. 1158 Lincolnway East, local district, partial loss of
contributing structure; also 1402-1404 Lincolnway East,
Code Enforcement Issue, 2002 C of A.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: This is a lovely Arts and Crafts bungalow. It has two
attached contributing structures. One of them is a carriage house and the other one is a
garage. Somebody drove into the back corner of the one car garage apparently with a
truck. There is a hole in the garage. A corner of it has been taken out at least five feet
tall by five feet on one wall and five feet on the other wall. Code Enforcement did bring
us some pictures.
JOHN OXIAN: Can we see the pictures?
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: I thought they were in the packet; but, I must have
forgotten to bring them.
JOHN OXIAN: Did you take pictures of it, Wayne? Where are your pictures?
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: Code Enforcement brought us in a packet of pictures.
7
