Madison, South Bend, Indiana is located on the east'half of <br />the block bordered by Madison, Lafayette, Marion, and William streets. The west half of <br />this block is within the Chapin park Historic District, Temple Beth-El owns, through a <br />0 <br />trust, a lot in the west half of this block, and may acquire other lots in the west half of this <br />block for the purposes of additional building, grounds or parking. No Historic <br />Preservation Commission decision or requirement in these Guidelines or elsewhere shall <br />apply to any lot in the west half of this block owned at the time by Temple .Beth-El or one <br />Of its trusts. Instead, Temple Beth-EI and its trusts shall maintain any structure. or <br />property owned in the west half of the block consistent with these Guidelines unless and <br />until Temple Beth-E1 decides to demolish the structure for building, grounds or parking <br />purposes. Temple Beth-El may demolish the stzucture.and clear the land, provided it first. <br />offers the structure to be sold and relocated at a price of One Dollar (S 1.00), with the <br />relocation expenses borne by the buyer, for a period of not less than one h <br />. und.red and , <br />eighty (180) days. This time period .may be extended by up to an additional 60 days at <br />the request of the Historic Preservation Commission or the Chapin park Historic District <br />:boazd. This paragraph shall not be modified without the approval of the Board of <br />Trustees of Temple Beth-El.' <br />
