NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />a. continued.... <br />Ms. Schwartz noted that the Commission <br />is trying to respond to a timetable of the <br />developers. She noted that she is <br />prepared to make a motion subject to the <br />land being sold for $70,000 "as is ", with <br />no tax abatement and subject to the <br />developer being responsible for any <br />environmental work that may need to be <br />done. She noted that if the Commission <br />were to proceed, it would be a motion <br />that would permit a letter authorizing site <br />control to be provided to the General <br />Services Administration, subject to it's <br />approval of either of the developer's <br />proposal for a Social Security building. <br />She noted that it would permit the two <br />developers to review the environmental <br />information and if either developer isn't <br />prepared to proceed with these terms, <br />that's their choice. She noted that as a <br />Commissioner she is not prepared to <br />accept any further obligation beyond what <br />federal law may require of the <br />Commission as part of a Contract for Sale <br />of Land. She noted that if in fact there <br />are significant environmental problems <br />that are part of the land that are revealed <br />in the future, the Commission would <br />address them at that point. <br />Ms. Schwartz noted that the Commission <br />can provide a timetable for the developers <br />to respond to the Commission's proposal. <br />She asked the developers if 5:00 p.m. <br />Wednesday would be appropriate for <br />them.
