DOUGLAS GIBSON: (Presented additional letters from three of his five neighbors. He also
had a neighbor present at the meeting who was in support of the work that he is proposing. He
passed out information packets to commission members that contained pictures that he had
received from the previous homeowner's daughter who had lived in the house from about 1939-
1968. Most of the new detail that he is planning on putting back onto the house and the changes
that he is planning to do to the house came from these pictures).
Some of these pictures show the areas where some of the roof braces have been removed
that I would like to replace. The aluminum siding and the fake limestone I would like to take
off. The trim piece separating the four -inch and the eight -inch lap siding that has been removed.
I have already taken the siding off on the north side of the house to get an idea of what kind of
condition it is in.
Karen made copies of the architect's drawings and handed them out to commission members
with their information packets.
Karen also read into the record the names and address of people who have sent letters in favor of
Mr: Gibson's proposed plan. They are as follows:
1. Billie and Charles Kloote located at 1037 Hudson Avenue
2. Brijitte Coiesdrer Weiderk located at 1007 Hudson Avenue
3. Gretchen Reydams- Schils located at 1015 Hudson Avenue
4. Alexandra Foley and Michael Foley located at 1077 Riverside Drive
JOHN OXIAN: When did they put the siding on the house?
DOUGLAS GIBSON: The siding was put on in late 1968.
JOHN OXIAN: I will make a motion that everything in column one of the Staff Report be
approved as recommended by staff.
VIRGINIA O'HAIR: Seconds the motion and the motion passes. Joann Sporleder opposes the
motion because of the following:
1. The porch should be redone to replicate the original enclosure, which is in
the Arts and Crafts style.
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: The second part of the Application includes the new changes that
are to be done, and there are six items there.
John Oxian asked Mr. Gibson to explain in detail the six new changes that are going to be done
to the property, which he does.
GERALD UJDAK: I will make a motion that we approve the second part of application 2003-
0721 as explained to us by Mr. Gibson and as detailed in the C. of A.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and the motion passes. Joann Sporleder opposes
the motion for the following reasons:
1. The porch should be redone to replicate the original enclosure, which is in
the Arts and Crafts style.
3
