JOAN SPORLEDER: I will make a motion that Karen prepares a letter on behalf of the
commission for this proposed Riverside Trail.
VIRGINIA O'HAIR: Seconds the motion and the motion passes unanimously.
III. REGULAR BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES (March)
JOHN OXIAN: Regarding the approval of minutes. Since you have not had time to read
them, I would suggest that we table them until next month.
B. LEGAL REPORT
THOMAS BODNAR: Introduced Mr. John Livingston as a new attorney who has
recently joined the City Attorney's Office.
I will also have more information regarding the Madison School situation at our next
meeting, now that I have extra help available.
D. STAFF REPORTS: C. of A. Approvals; Correspondence; Muessel-
Drewery's Brewery.
JOHN OXIAN: Regarding Muessel - Drewery Brewery, I would like to set up a meeting
with those of you that are on the committee. Martha is not here; however, both Joann and
Don are here. We have to get together on this, because I am sure we are going to get a
telephone call concerning this matter very soon.
KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: On C. of A. approvals, there have been two trees in the
Edgewater District that have been stormed damaged beyond recovery. I have granted
Certificates of Appropriateness to remove the storm damaged trees and to replace them
with similar trees, and to plant some bushes by the Erasmus Bookstore.
Regarding Correspondence, we receive some correspondence that I have passed out to
you from the East Wayne Street Local Historic District, regarding the restoration of the
boulders and the tree -lined parks there. I passed this letter from the Neighborhood
Association onto Betsy Harriman of the Parks Department, with a note asking for her
thoughts and ideas. Her response, (see attached note).
My thoughts are that if the Neighborhood Association is suggesting actually meeting
with the Parks Department, I think a meeting might resolve some of these issues one way
or another and maybe screen out some underline tensions. I am, however, open to any
thoughts and suggestions that commission members may have.
JOHN OXIAN: This subject was brought up at the Leeper Park Beautification
Committee meeting and we were informed that quite a few of boulders had been taken
back.
