REVEREND CHARLES JAMERSON: Yes, we are. The property is all we are really
interested in.
JOHN OXIAN: Remember that if you put a new main entrance there, you will have to
come in for a C. of A.
REVEREND CHARLES JAMERSON: Yes, of course. We currently have an architect
that has been working with us on this proposed project for a while now. He is actually
the one who came up with the idea of us opening up our main space. The only thing we
are changing on the outside of the building is to create a new entrance.
JOHN OXIAN: Karen will get back in touch with you and then we will have a meeting.
MARY JANE CHASE: I will make a motion that we adopt a resolution in support of this
project.
JOANN SPORLEDER: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
2. Steve Benczik & Katie Wolfe, of the Troyer Group, regarding the
South Bend Riverside Trail.
STEVE BENCZIK: Made a presentation to commission members regarding the South
Bend Riverside Trail. Steve Benczik also presented to commission members a colored
schematic design concepts map as to what the proposed South Bend Riverside Trail
should look like upon completion. (See attached map).
A discussion was then held between Steve Benczik and commission members. The main
point of concern for commission members is how this proposed South Benct Riverside
Trial will affect the four local historic landmarks that are located along the length of the
trail.
KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: Mr. Benczik would like to have a letter from the HPC
stating whether or not the commission believes that the plan that is proposed would have
an adverse impact on the following historic landmarks:
1. The Wastewater Treatment Plant
2. The Darden Street Bridge
3. The Riverside Local Historic District
4. The Angela Bridge
If I understand the commission correctly, they are going to entrust me to write a letter
stating that there is no adverse impact on the local historic landmarks, or the local historic
district. Noting, however, that alterations to the landscape of any of the local landmarks
must first require a C. of A. before proceeding.
