JOHN OXIAN: I would also like to make a motion that the older concrete street light
poles that come out of historic districts that are not declared landmarks that they be
preserved anyway.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and the motion carries unanimously.
2. Inspector's Report, Clay Township
WAYNE DOOLITTLE: These are all the pictures that we have from three -and a half
townships. Right now I think there are about seventeen that do not match from one book
to the other that I am still trying to find so that I can finish Clay Township. All of the
township pictures are in here with their addresses. For anybody who wants to look at
them they will be in the commission office. I got a call from Don Sappington, who lives
in the first house, which is a Federal style house, at the top of the hill on Riverside. He
stated in his conversation to me that he would like to have another temporary light of
some kind installed in front of the Cutter House. He told me that there hasn't been a light
in front of the Cutter House for at least two years. He also told me that he would like to
have something at least temporary there until something else better comes along. He
stated that it has been a long time and that he would like to see a light installed at the top
of the hill. We know that he would like to have one of the original street lights installed
there, but we have not been able to successfully do that yet.
JOHN OXIAN: That was the original cast iron street light pole on Riverside Drive.
Riverside Drive originally had cast iron street light poles not concrete street light poles.
That was the only cast iron street light pole left. That was the original cast iron street
light pole from Cutter. The city was trying to find a way to copy that cast iron street light
pole and have another one installed in its place. This is another important matter that I
intend to discuss at the October 2"d meeting.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
A. Oliver School Certificates of Appropriateness; progress of work.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: I have no progress to report at this time. I did pass out to
commission members copies of the permits that have been issued after our August 7a',
and our September 3`' meetings.
V. ADJOURNMENT
GERALD UJDAK: Makes a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:35.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and the meeting is adjourned.
/d
