the property and the houses that are located on the property including the carriage house
in the back of the property. There is little to note on the change in the historical aspect of
the house, except for the attic which we intend to make inhabitable. The property at one
time did have multiple apartments in it in the 1970's, and then someone else bought it
from the original owner and turned in back into a duplex instead. Later on the Near
Northwest Neighborhood Association bought it; they re -gutted the walls and changed it
back into a single family home again. The house sits on the corner between Golden and
Portage. The roof we had replaced had five layers of shingles on it. Since there were
five layers of shingles on the roof it caused a lot of the joists to rot out and there was
quite a bit of water damage done to the property as well. When we had our roof put on
we did not have an ice sheet put on close to the eaves; but, the roofer is not completely
done with the roof yet either. The roofer still needs to put on the gutters and one part of
the roof has not been put on yet because we need to do some structural damage repair
first. We do still have the staircase in the house, but just before we bought the house
vandals came in and kicked about twenty of the round spindles out of the staircase.
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: I make the motion to declare this property a local
landmark.
VIRGINIA O'HAIR: Seconds the motion and the motion carries unanimously.
JOHN OXIAN: Your property has been approved by the commission for local landmark
status, and next month we will go for the National Register.
KAREN HAMMOND NASH: The reason for this is that we have to have newspaper
publication of notice before we can vote on National Landmark Status.
C. HEARING OF VISTORS
(No visitors came forward to speak during the meeting).
IIL REGULAR BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
GERALD UJDAK: I make a motion to approve the minutes for the month of August.
MARTHA CHOITZ: Seconds the motion and the motion carries unanimously.
B. TREASURER'S REPORT
MARY JANE CHASE: What we plan to do with the treasurer's report from now on is to
go over the income and the expenses monthly and give a profit and loss statement.
C. LEGAL REPORT
1. Leeper Park Settlement status
r%
