$50,000.00
Memorial has already given the committee the $50,000.00. Even though it says Leeper Park
what has happened is that the outfit that is doing this is also telling us what Memorial Hospital's
interest is between the areas of not only Leeper Park but almost all the way up to LaSalle Street
between Lafayette and St. Joseph Street. The $50,000.00 is specifically for Leeper Park. The
responsibility for spending this money for Leeper Park has not just been given to the commission
alone. The hospital in cooperation with other groups, have decided who the chairman would be
and who the representative on the committee would be.
There was further discussion held among commission members about the $50,000.00 dollar
grant that was given by Memorial Hospital for Leeper Park. What responsibility if any the
commission will have in regards to this grant money being spent for the park. When the Leeper
Park Beautification Committee is scheduled to meet on this matter and what additional points if
any still need to be discussed at this committee meeting regarding this matter.
3. Elm Tree Project, Edgewater Historic District
KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: The Elm Tree Project in Leeper Park is slowly proceeding. We
had a meeting scheduled with the city forester for Friday, but unfortunately an illness in his
family made it necessary for him to cancel. We have decided to meet instead tomorrow morning
at 8:30 a.m. at Tina Assimos's house to do a walking survey of the Edgewater neighborhood and
see if the recommendations of the forester to see where trees are most needed and will be most
appropriate.
4. Street Light Project, Chapin Park National Registry District.
KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: The commission directed staff at the last meeting to ask for
actual bid from Sibley Foundry regarding what they would charge and what their minimum order
would be for recasting the Park Avenue lights. The commission has not got that bid back from
them yet. When I put the agenda together I was expecting that we would have that bid and I
would be able to present this bid to the commission pursuant to your instructions.
A 5. Inspector's Report: Oliver Township
WAYNE DOOLITTLE: We are starting a review of the surveys that were done in the county.
The first one I had was in 1985, which is this particular one that we have in Karen's report for
2000. What I am doing is trying to match what is in both books. There are a number of mistakes
in both books. The addresses are wrong, and there are some that are listed in the book and are
not on the map. I have started the methodical process of going through both of the books and
trying to figure out which one of these is right., Since 1985 we have lost any number of
structures that were originally in the first county survey. These structures have either been torn
down or replaced by new homes.
I have spent two days in Olive Township trying to figure out where these structures are. A
lot of the addresses do not help me much. I am taking photographs of each of the current
structures and listing their addresses. There's a list I probably should have made out for you for
the number of homes that are listed that are no longer there. I was noticing today that there was
.r
