640 After due consideration, the following action was taken:
641
642 Upon a motion by Catherine Hostetler, being seconded by Richard
643 Helmus and carried unanimously the treasurers report was accepted as presented.
644
645
646 C. Correspondence
647 None.
648
649 D. Committee Reports
650 1. Historic Districts
651
652 CATHERINE HOSTETLER: I received a phone call from Karen Ainsley of the
653 Park Avenue area, a week ago during which she said the application would be presented
654 before the PANA monthly board meeting on Wednesday and if they approve the wording
655 she would submit to the Historic Preservation Commission. Apparently, they are still
656 working on it.
657
658 RHONDA SAUNDERS: The liaison terms are up this month. I sent out the
659 nomination for new members with the spring newsletter and only received three back
660 from all the districts. I am not sure how to continue.
661
662 JOHN OXIAN: If we do not receive a response then the President, along with the
663 Executive Board, will canvas the neighborhoods and will appoint members. If you do not
664 hear anything by the end of May, the Commission will take the appropriate actions.
665
666 2. Local Landmarks 1" Reading
667
668 JOHN OXIAN: All the landmarks have gone through except the railroad bridge.
669 The accident earlier this month is causing some delays in getting this ordinance passed. I
670 will be before the council next Tuesday regarding this matter. What bothers me about all
671 of this is the last letter that the railroad submitted. I might just invoke interim protection
672 over the bridge to prevent the railroad from coming in and doing a quick demolition of
673 the bridge.
674
675 JOANN SPORLEDER: Is this an active line?
676
677 JOHN OXIAN: No, it cannot be accessed anymore because portions of the railroad
678 tracks have been paved over on Rupel Street.
679
680 JOANN SPORLEDER: Has the railroad petitioned to abandon the line?
681
682 JOHN OXIAN: No, nothing has changed since the last meeting except the railroads
683 attorneys are back in the picture.
684
15
