STEPS TO A <br />LANDMARK <br />CONTINUED... <br />5) The Commission submits its recom- <br />mendation to the proper legislative <br />body, either the Common Council or <br />the County Council, in the form of an <br />ordinance designating the building, <br />structure, site, object or area as a <br />landmark. <br />6) The Council holds first reading of the <br />proposed ordinance. <br />7) The Council forwards the proposed <br />ordinance to the Area Plan Commis- <br />sion for comment. They return the <br />proposed ordinance to the Council <br />with recommendation. <br />8) The Council holds a public hearing/ <br />second reading on the proposed ordi- <br />nance and votes on the designation. <br />9) If the vote is favorable the structure, <br />building, site, object or area is thus <br />officially designated.
