47 He stated that Herceg and Associates was officially recommending the use of 150 watt <br />48 sodium vapor bulb in the acorn style light fixture to allow the appropriate lighting. Mr. <br />49 Rozanski went on to note that the globe fixture with a 150 watt bulb can be used, but, will <br />50 leave some areas under lit. Mr. Herceg noted that he had met with Commissioner, <br />51 Beverly Crone, who stated that if what the Historic Preservation Commission <br />52 recommends falls with in the guidelines then it will be done. He also asked if the <br />53 Commission could vote on the streetlight and sconce lighting to allow the project to <br />54 continue while tabling the roof lights until next month. Mr. Rozanski noted that the <br />55 sconces proposed for the front door would be identical to the pole lights except for their <br />56 size, which would be 12 inches. Mr. Oxian asked how bright Mr. Herceg wanted to make <br />57 the courtyard. Mr. Herceg stated that they were trying to reach the 1.0 candle average <br />58 and the globe falls short at a .7 average. Mr. Ujdak asked what type of material would be <br />59 used for the sconces. Mr. Rozanski stated that the white globe only comes in acrylic. <br />60 Mr. Ujdak asked what type of material would be used for the globes on the poles. Mr. <br />61 Rozanski stated that if the white globe is available in polycarbonate then that will be <br />62 used, however if it is not available they will have to use acrylic. <br />63 <br />64 Mr. Oxian moved to approve eight, fluted 12 foot tall, cast iron poles, with 16 inch <br />65 diameter white globes, which are to be identical to the wall sconces in style, made of <br />66 polycarbonate (or acrylic if polycarbonate is not available) and lit by 150 watt sodium <br />67 vapor bulbs. He also moved to approve recessed lighting in the portico as presented and <br />68 four wall sconces to be located on either side of the main entrance each to have a 12 inch <br />69 white globe, number G1278BB with 50 watt sodium vapor bulbs. Mrs. Hostetler <br />70 seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />71 <br />72 Mr. Oxian stated that the issue concerning the roof lighting would be tabled until May <br />73 15th to allow Mr. Herceg time to discuss this matter with the State Historic Preservation <br />74 Office, which has expressed concern over these lights. Mr. Oxian read the letter from the <br />75 State Office regarding their interest in the changes to the roof of the Courthouse, the <br />76 funds they have vested in the project and the need for all proposed work to be submitted <br />77 to the Department of Historic Preservation and Archaeology prior to the beginning of any <br />78 work. He further noted that exterior details will be retained and almost all <br />86 windows will be rehabilitated with the exception of two south elevation windows which <br />87 are proposed for glass block for safety and privacy. Mr. Kil stated that the front entrance <br />88 bank sign and all terra cotta would be repaired and restored. Mr. Oxian stated that the <br />89 Commission should approve the application with a motion that states that the glass block <br />90 is being approved but is not setting a precedent. Mrs. Sporleder stated that by approving <br />91 the application as submitted gives enough reasons for why the glass block is being <br />92 permitted.
