Mrs. Choitz asked if all the odd shaped fixed windows would be replaced with the same shape <br />fixed windows. Mr. Loechen stated that all windows would be replaced with the same shape, <br />size and style windows except the proposed bathroom windows. He went on to ask if the <br />window sills and casing could be covered over with aluminum. Mrs. Sporleder asked if the <br />house is sided in aluminum. Mr. Loechen stated that the house currently has wood siding. He <br />further noted that the owner is requesting the aluminum for easy maintenance. Mrs. Choitz <br />stated that she prefers that the window casings and sills remain wood. Mrs. Choitz moved to <br />approved the application as submitted with all double hung windows and two rear, second story <br />fixed windows replaced with double hung windows and all remaining fixed windows replaced <br />with fixed windows, with the stipulation that all of the window casings and sills remain wood. <br />Mr. Weiner seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that item number six under public hearing and item 3C under Committee <br />Reports should be combined, so there would only have to be one presentation. Mrs. Sporleder <br />moved to combine item number 6 under Public Hearing and item 3C under Committee Reports. <br />Mr. Helmus seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />6. 1999-0902-1608 Devon Circle, gazebo and brick patio. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that both <br />owners, Duke and Andrea Jones, were present as well as their contractor Tim Van Overberghe. <br />Mrs. Choitz moved to approved the application as recommended by staff. Mrs. Sporleder <br />seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Oxian presented the Standards and Maintenance Committee report concerning the proposed <br />window replacement at 1608 Devon Circle. Mrs. Sporleder noted the owners previous efforts <br />to retain the leaded glass windows. Mrs. Choitz stated that she had spoken with the owner <br />about storing the original leaded glass windows for fixture owners. There was some discussion <br />over the cost and feasibility of repairing the existing leaded glass windows. Mrs. Jones stated <br />that she was very willing to store the windows for as long as she owns the house, but, she does <br />not feel that the windows could be made air tight. Mrs. DeRose stated that the committee <br />recommendation should be considered a motion. Mr. Oxian moved to approve the committee <br />recommendation that the leaded glass windows be replaced with the proposed wood mutin <br />window units, with the stipulation that the original leaded glass windows be preserved and <br />stored for fixture owners. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion. Mr. Van Overberghe asked if the <br />Commission was approving the replacement of all three windows units. Mr. Oxian noted that <br />all three window units are being approved. The motion passed unanimously. <br />B. Proposed Local Landmarks, 2nd Reading <br />1. 302 W. Washington or 101 S. Lafayette, Peoples Church <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. Mrs. Choitz moved to send <br />the nomination to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation. Mr. Weiner <br />seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />
