South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - January 17, 1997
7. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
d. continued....
She noted that in their letter Memorial asks
for certain expenses to be borne by the City:
removal of all aboveground structures, curbs,
pavements, and sidewalks, remove
abandoned utility structures and insulations,
relocate utilities, construct curb cuts and
drive approaches and construct sidewalks on
Fellows Street.
Mrs. Kolata explained that all aboveground
structures have already been removed. She
noted that the City does intend to remove the
payment on Rush Street from Wenger Street
to Keasey Street. She noted that the other
requests are costs borne by other developers
as they construct their projects. There was
some discussion regarding constructing curb
cuts and drive approaches on Fellows Street.
She noted that Memorial will be responsible
for those items.
She explained that when Fellows Street is
widened the City will replace any curb cuts
and approaches at that point. It is not the
City's responsibility to do the curb cuts and
approaches at this time. It is the
responsibility of Memorial.
Mrs. Kolata recommended selling the land
and authorizing the Redevelopment
Commission's attorney to put together a
contract for the development of the land that
would incorporate the curb cuts and drive
approaches, but not include the other items
that are listed in the letter.
H:\ HOME \CPHIPPS \WPDATA \C0MMSN\011797.MIN -10-
