Mr. Oxian asked about the growth which was removed. Mr. Lamie stated that the only items <br />they removed were very small and did not required a Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Fine <br />asked if Mr. Lamie was planning on completing this project with in the next year. Mr. Lamie <br />stated that he was not sure how long it would take to save enough money to complete the entire <br />project. Mrs. Hostetler amended her motion, dropping the segment concerning the garage. The <br />amended motion passed unanimously. <br />5. 1998-0902 - Leeper Park - parking lot next to tennis complex. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the Leeper <br />Park Preservation plan, which was previously accepted by the Commission, includes the <br />installation of this particular parking area. Mrs. Sporleder noted that work had begun on this <br />project some time ago. Mr. Talley stated that the work began, without approval by the <br />commission, with in thirty days of the landmarking of the park. Mr. Oxian stated that he had <br />sent the Parks Department a letter stating that they did not have the authority to begin work on <br />this project and that all work should stop. He also stated that the standards being presented in <br />the Staff Report are wrong, thus, the entire recommendation for the application is null and void. <br />Mr., Oxian stated that because of this error the application should be tabled until next month <br />when a recommendation can be made using the correct standards. Mrs. Hostetler moved to table <br />the application until the October meeting, based on the fact that the wrong standards were used <br />in making the recommendation. Mrs. Sporleder seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />6. 1998-0911 - Leeper Park - plaque in the Rose Garden <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He noted that the plaque <br />should be a temporary change to the park do to the fact that the rehabilitation of the rose garden <br />is part of the over all preservation of the park. There was some discussion over when the plaque <br />was first dedicated and if it is currently located in the park. Mr. Talley stated that a ceremony <br />dedicating the plaque was held earlier this year, however, after the ceremony the plaque was <br />removed. Mrs. Sporleder moved to table this application because the staff recommendation is <br />based on the wrong standards and that a specific location for the plaque has not been identified. <br />Mr. Oxian seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />7. 1998-0715pt.2 - 830 N. Michigan - add a door to rear elevation as an addendum to <br />application 1998-0715. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He noted that Chris Michalos <br />was present on behalf of Water Works. Mr. Michalos stated that when Water Works filed for a <br />variance from the State in regards to square footage and numbers of egress, all their requests <br />were denied. He further noted that Water Works has come up with design changes to the <br />interior of the building which address these problems, however, one form of egress has to be <br />added to the exterior of the rear elevation for the chlorine room. Mr. Michalos also stated that <br />the department has filed an appeal, if this appeal is approved then the door will not be installed. <br />Mr. Fine asked if the door could be centered. Mr. Michalos stated that he felt the door could be <br />moved over some what with out interfering with interior functions. <br />3 <br />
