There was some discussion' over the' size of <br />the current windows and their muntin ,division. ..Mr. Talley asked if Mr. <br />O'Brien had originally -planned on having the muntins.in his replacements. Mr. Talley -moved to approve the <br />.application .with the installation of muntins to .replicate the originals and <br />that if a twelve muntin pattern is not available then it is recommended that <br />the owners themselves should be able to replicate' a twelve pattern muntin do <br />to Mrs. O'Brien' -s personal abilities and tallents._ Mrs.. Sporleder seconded <br />the motion and asked, what type. -of muntin would be used. Mr. O'Brien stated <br />that;•it would be the.snap in kind. The -motion passed unanimously. <br />3. 1998-0331-2 - 66401.Walnut - New house construction. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs and drawings. <br />He also noted that the owner, Mr. Harman, was present. Mrs. Sporleder asked <br />for clarification of a photograph and asked, the size of the lot proposed for <br />the new construction. Mr. Duvall stated that the lot. contains 16.8 acres. <br />She asked Mr—Harman if he had future plans to subdivide- the 16 -acres. `Mr. <br />Harman stated that he had no such plans and that do to power lines and <br />railroad tracks it would-be difficult to.build on the back portion of'the lot. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that when the house was landmarked it included a total of 22. <br />acres to retain the houses farmstead feel. - He also stated that by.building <br />the,house in the proposed location would not affect the landmark or its site. <br />Mrs. Sporleder moved to, approve the application as submitted. Mr. Fine <br />seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Oxian discussed, <br />landmarking farm houses and surrounding acreage.- Mr. ,Harman stated that - he <br />was onthe: agenda under Historic Landmarks. Mr. Oxian stated that the <br />Historic Landmarks,' Committee was going to reoommend denial of Mr. Harmans <br />!request -to remove his'property'from landmark.status. <br />4. 1998-0407 - 1610 East Wayne Street-- Window replacement & addition <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also <br />noted that the owner, Mrs. McGrew,*,was present. _Mrs. McGrew state'd'that she <br />.,does have interior storm. windows, however, they are still very,drafty.. Mr.. <br />Oxian stated that he would like to place the application in the'Standards and <br />Maintenance Committee,- .because of the lack of details- submitted. Mrs. <br />Sporleder suggested that the Commission approve the concept of. Mrs. McGrew -'s <br />proposal and let the Committee work out the details to save'the owner time and <br />money. Mr. Oxian stated that the Committee could not make a final decision.'on <br />anything. Mrs. Sporleder stated that perhaps the owner does not want to spend <br />the _extra time and money on gathering more details if there is a possibility <br />that - the Commission will turn- the 'application down. Mr. Fine asked Mrs. <br />McGrew if it.had been her intention to -see -if the Commission felt her proposal <br />.was possible.. Mrs. ­McGrew stated that it''was her intention to.be present to <br />share her thoughts on the. windows ,and* addition. She noted that the <br />replacIement_windows would be the same size as the original with the same light <br />divisions. Mrs..McGrew stated that the screen porch•would be enclosed --exactly <br />as it .is now. ._ Mrs. McGrew's builder further elaborated that' the* enclosed <br />porch would match the house in window. style and siding with noalterationto-. <br />existing openings. He also discussed- .the second story addition as following <br />the footprint of .the old screened in porch, also with the same siding -and <br />windows as the hest of the house.' .There was some discussion over the window <br />type and design. Mr., Fine stated that the, request is too conceptional and <br />needs,to go to Committee to work out the remaining details. Mrs. Choitz noted <br />2 <br />
