MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HIST_ORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Regular Monthly Meeting County Commissione'r's <br />7:30 p.m. Conference Room <br />Monday April 20, 1998 7th Floor County -City Building . <br />I'. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, President -of the Commission, brought the.meeting to order.at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br />II. -Roll Call �.. <br />Commission. members present were:,- Martha Choitz,.Adrian .Fine, John .Oxian,. <br />Janeanne Petrass, Edward Talley, Jerry Weiner, Sc Joann Sporleder. <br />Commission. staff• present were:. David Duvall, Director, Rhonda Saunders, <br />Administrative Assistant and "Aladean DeRose, Counsel, arrived at 8:00pm. <br />-Also attending the meeting were: Don Sporleder, Roberto'Junres', Ed Trevino, <br />Anthony Harman," Robert & Sherry Montel, John 0•'Brien, Karen McGrew and Tom <br />Selsor. <br />III: Public Hearing <br />Mr. Oxian stated'that 60500 Bremen Highway will be removed from Standards and <br />'Maintenance section oU the agenda and place under Public Hearing: Mrs. Choitz <br />moved to place 60500 Bremen Highway under, Public Hearing section of the <br />agenda. Mr. -Talley seconded -the motion. -The motion passed unanimously. <br />A. Certificates of Appropriateness <br />1) 1998-0330-2pt_. B.- 621 Lincolnway East-'Rear'privacy fence <br />Mr. Duvall 'presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also <br />noted that this particular property was before the Commission -last month for a <br />garage demolition request and that part "A"..of this application pertained to <br />the,, staff, approved,- rehabilitation of the garage.- Mr. Weiner moved to <br />approve the application as submitted. Mrs. Petrass seconded the motion. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />2. 1998-0331 - 1029 Hudson - Replacement of three attic windows <br />Mr.,. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs. 1• He .also <br />noted that theeowner,-Mr. O'Brien was,present:,.Mr.'Oxian'asked,if Mr. O'Brien <br />had any comments -to make. " Mr. O'Brien' asked if the staff recommendation was <br />proposing that the replacement of.the front and rear windows be approved, but, <br />that the 'replacement of the side- window be denied. 'Mr. Duvall responded ' <br />affirmatively. Mr. O'Brien noted that he and his wife have tried very hard in <br />the past to'work with the Commission "in restoring the house and ,that when they <br />started on this project they contacted a -carpenter out 'of Elkhart to "evaluate <br />the condition of the windows. The carpenter, upon examining the -windows, <br />stated that they could not be restored. Then Mr.. O'Brien went on to note that <br />he,disagreed with statement "that was made in the staff report which declared <br />that the side window was clearly visible from the street and asked to�be-given <br />permission to replace all three windows. <br />.-Mr. Oxian.-noted that Mr.. O'Brien" has not yet, given any indication as to what <br />type of window will replace the side window,- if its replacement is <br />t approved .- Mr. O'Brien stated that Anderson windows come with muntin inserts <br />and what ever muntin-patternis available through that company they would be <br />more:than happy, to use. Mr. Oxian asked if -the owners planned to replicate <br />the - nine.light, pattern .'in the front and rear attic windows and the twelve <br />pattern in the side attic window., Mr." O'Brien "stated that if .the twelve " <br />
