B. Historic Landmarks and Districts <br />1) North St. Joseph Street,Local Historic District• -,Second Reading <br />----- - Mr. Duvall,.presented-the Staff Report--and-distributed-,maps -of the area. He <br />also noted that Rita Kopczynski, from the -Near Northwest Neighborhood <br />Association, was present. Mrs. Choitz moved to forward the_proposed.N. St. <br />_ Joseph Street Local Historic District to the South Bend Common- Council for <br />approval. Mrs. Sporleder.seconded the. motion.1 Mr.. Oxian asked if Ms. <br />Kopczynski had anything ,'she would like to say. Ms. Kopczynski noted that <br />today was -her, first day as -Director .of the Near Northwest Neighborhood <br />Association -.so she has had little time to -get familiar -with this project. She <br />also stated that she has spoken with Todd Zeiger and that he informed her•that <br />the designation would be in favor of what the Near North West Neighborhood ; <br />Association wants•to accomplish: <br />Ms: DesLauriers asked if the white .house, that was initially part of the <br />Project but has since been purchased, will still''be apart of the. proposed <br />district. Mr. 'Oxian asked if -she was referring to 108 Bartlett Street. Ms. <br />DesLauriers' stated that the house.she was referring to was located. on. N. St. <br />Joseph. There was some discussion over which house Ms.- DesLauriers was <br />talking about.. During this discussion Ms. DesLauriers also asked -if -the gray <br />house on the corner was included in the proposed district. ..There was .some <br />discussion to determine.which corner she was referring to at which time it was <br />decided that Ms. DesLauriers was ref erring' to. the house on the -northwest <br />corner 'of, N.: St. Joseph and Navarre Streets. There was more 'discussion over <br />the boundaries,of-the proposed district at which time it was ascertained,that <br />the houses in question were a part of the proposed district. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that Mr. Duvall should' send a map out lining -the. present <br />Local Historic District of River -Bend to'the Common Council so they can see <br />the districts proximity to the new North St. Joseph Street proposed District. <br />Mr. Talley asked Mr. Duvall what the triangular shaped land.between Navarre <br />and Marion Streets consisted of. Mrs. Hostetler stated that it contained <br />little cottages. Mr. Duvall. stated that they were little tiny apartments. <br />Mr.' Talley then asked if Mr* <br />.Duvail knew when Bartlett Street became an actual <br />street. Mr. Duvall stated that• he had never looked. at .it from that point of <br />.- view. Mr. Oxian stated that.he wanted Mr. Duvall to contact the -owners of the <br />duplexes at 120 and 128 Bartlett,Street to see if they would agree'to become a <br />part 'of the proposed district. Mr. Oxian asked 'if there were any further <br />questions or discussion. There were none.. The motion passed unanimously. <br />IV. Regular Business <br />A.' Approval of Minutes <br />1-. April 20, 1998. <br />Mr. Oxian submitted his corrections to Mrs. Saunders and asked .if there were <br />any more corrections. There were none. Mrs. Choitz moved to approve the <br />minutes as corrected. Mr. Talley seconded the motion. ' The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />B. Treasurer's Report <br />Mr. .Weiner distributed.. the Treasurer's report. Mr. Talley moved to approve <br />the report. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the motion. The motion passed. <br />unanimously.' <br />C. Correspondence <br />Mr. Oxian,stated that the request for -revisions to the•Riverside Drive'Local <br />Historic.
