E <br />• Watson should have a street named after him so his. name can add to the unique <br />history of the area with out having to remove another important mans name, <br />there are plenty of streets through out the city with meaningless names that <br />would better serve as home for Mr. Watson. The Commission also resolved that <br />which ever street is' chosen that the entire street be renamed and not just a <br />portion of the street. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the resolution. The <br />resolution passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Duvall'stated that correspondence was received from Adrian Fine of.the <br />Indiana Alliance for Historic District Commissions requesting a letter of <br />support for the preparation of .a brochure which would cover three primary <br />areas, one Historic Preservation Commissions their role, purpose, benefits and <br />establishment, two Certified Local Governments their description, benefits and <br />establishment and three which is the Indiana Association of Historic District <br />Commission their role and membership. Mr. Duvall stated that after consulting <br />with the President'of the Commission, Mr. Oxian, that he did write a letter of <br />supportdo to the fact that it needed to be returned before the Commissions <br />monthly meeting. <br />.Mr. Duvall went on to disclose that a letter of concern from Linda Riley was <br />received regarding the state of the street lighting in East Wayne Street. Mr. <br />Talley stated that he was unclear as to the Commission stance on this issue <br />and that he believes the Commission is lacking in its responsibilities and <br />,efforts where this case is concerned. Mr. Oxian stated that he was going to <br />talk to the Mayor about the lighting problem. He further noted that there has <br />been no response to their complaints other then having" all the lights made <br />operable. Mr. Talley stated that he would be happy to get involved to see <br />that the problem is resolved and that he is unhappy with the'lack of help from <br />• the local representative. <br />D. Committee Reports <br />1. Budget and Finance <br />Nothing new to report. <br />2. Historic Districts <br />Mrs. Choi.tz asked what the dates were for project access. Mrs. Hostetler <br />stated that Riverside Drive is meeting on November 4 and North Shore Drive <br />will meet on November 5 at.7:00p.m. She asked if there was a place set yet. <br />Mrs. Hostetler stated that they were still waiting to hear from a few places. <br />3. Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian stated that since the Commission has not heard from the school that <br />Madison School will go on, he further noted that the Tower Building and the <br />Eby House passed last Monday. Mr. Oxian stated that the house on Harrison' <br />would continue in its landmarking since the Commission gave them six months <br />and six months is up so action is to be taken. <br />4. Standards and Maintenance <br />Mr. Oxian stated that since Mr. Fine was not present and that the owners <br />requesting glass block were not in any hurry that it will be left until next <br />month. ` <br />5. Legal <br />. Mr. Oxian stated that the Legal Committee did meet and that it Was decided <br />that the preservation plan, where it mentions' the public historic resource <br />policy should include any public buildings. 'He further wants to change the, <br />time period of Certificates of Appropriateness from 45 days to 60 days. Mr. <br />Oxian mentioned that he had a discussion with the Council Attorney in which <br />the attorney stated that 'she had no objections to such a change. Mr. Oxian <br />
