Mr. Kent, the realtor and representative for the owners, interjected that the <br />garage was not made of cement block, that it was a wood frame with regular <br />wood siding. Mr. Oxian stated that even if it is wood it still needed to be <br />included in the report do to its age. Mrs. Choitz moved to have the proposed <br />local landmark of 1631 Lincolnway West be sent to City Council for approval. <br />Mrs. Petrass seconded the motion. <br />Mr. Kent stated that he was with Remax Realtors and that he was there on be- <br />half of the owners, Realty Management which is located in Florida. He further, <br />stated that the property is currently for sale and that when the present <br />owners took over the property they were unaware of the demolition order <br />against it. Mr. Kent noted that they_ have had limited success in marketing <br />this building because of the lack of cooperation received from the city. They <br />were unable to repair the house due to the fact that there is no electricity <br />at the house and it will not be turned on because the house is a residential <br />use in a commercial district. There is currently an application in the works <br />to get the zoning changed. He also noted that the prospective purchasers have <br />declined to buy the property because of the demolition order. Mr. Kent stated <br />that he was at the meeting to understand what the commissions intentions are <br />toward this property. Mr. Oxian stated that the house was brought up for <br />landmarking when it was still owned by the previous owner. Then he discussed <br />the history of the house and the commissions past and present relationship <br />with it. Mr. Oxian further stated that the commissions intentions were to <br />save the structure. There was some more discussion over the obstacles <br />prohibiting the necessary repairs and the feasibility of ,converting the <br />structure to a commercial use. The motion passed unanimously. <br />• IV. Regular Business' <br />Mr. Oxian stated that he wanted to change' the agenda and bring up historic <br />landmarks committee report. Mr. Talley moved to suspend the agenda. Mrs. <br />Sporleder seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />A. Historic Landmarks <br />1. 804 N. Lafayette and 513 Harrison <br />Mr. Oxian stated that letters were sent to the council to have both properties <br />placed on their agenda. He also noted that he had visited 513 Harrison on <br />Saturday the 15th of November at which time he decided that a second house on <br />the same lot should be added to the landmarking of 513 Harrison. <br />1. 214 W. Jefferson <br />Mr. Oxian noted that Mr. Kil was present to make a presentation to the <br />commission concerning'.214 West Jefferson. Mr. Kil introduced himself as the <br />architect involved in the planned renovation of 214 West Jefferson and <br />circulated photographs. He stated that the current owner purchased the <br />building with the intention of renovating it and using it for his law offices. <br />Mr. Kil discussed renovation and construction plans for the internal stairs, <br />external stairs and the existing elevator shaft. Mr. Kil further described <br />the alterations and rehabilitation that has already occurred with regard to <br />the exterior appearance and windows. He also indicated that through their <br />research it came to light that the building was originally an office building. <br />Mrs. Sporleder asked if the client intended to replace the missing section of <br />• the cornice molding. Mr. Kil said that' this was the owners intention. Mrs. <br />Sporleder asked if the building was one of the structures listed in the <br />Multiple Resource National Register District. Mr. Oxian stated that it was <br />not. Mrs. Sporleder questioned if it could be placed on it. Mr. Oxian stated <br />that he had talked with Mr. Hurdis about the possibility but nothing was <br />
