fir. Oxian reported as follows: <br />534 LaPorte Avenue (Starzynski Texaco Gasoline Station) - Little activity has <br />occurred at this location since the new owners acquired the site. <br />237 North Michigan (LaSalle hotel) - The Owners have been contacted regarding <br />proceeding toward designation and have been provided with the consent form and <br />a new copy of the Landmark Standards. <br />518 South Michigan (Pro Sound) - We are waiting for assistance from the <br />Department of Economic Development for proceeding in concert on this <br />designation. <br />b. Proposed Landmarks pending second reading <br />Streetlight at L77 corner Stanfield & Pokagon - LMr. Oxian brought this object <br />in-situ forward for recommendation. Mr. Talley noted that since the <br />disappearance of another streetlight of the same design during the preceding <br />month, the one under consideration is the last of its type in the city. 'rMr. <br />Talley moved that the streetlight be recommended to the Common Council as a <br />Local Landmark. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously <br />approved. Mr. Oxian instructed Mr. Duvall to contact Carl Littrell regarding <br />the whereabouts of the other street light mentioned by ,Mr. Talley. <br />Mr. Talley inquired about interim protection of proposed landmarks during the <br />designation process. Mrs. DeRose indicated that a moratorium on demolition <br />would be possible. .Mr. Oxian indicated that he has considered such a <br />moratorium up to 90 days and that one statute which he had seen extended such <br />authority to National Register properties. sir. Duvall indicated that he <br />believed the Wisconsin law provided for local commissions being able to delay <br />demolition of National Register properties for some period. <br />c. Frame Family cemetery <br />;Mr. Duvall reported that .the final plat revisions have not yet been finalized <br />but that the developer's commitments have been quite appropriate and <br />cooperative. <br />d. Darden Bridge <br />Mr. Duvall reported that construction documents have been issued for the <br />project letting of a contract is anticipated in November. The County Engineer <br />has promised to provide a copy of the documents but they are not yet in our <br />possession. Construction start is not anticipated until spring thaw. <br />e. County Court Houses <br />Mr. Duvall reported that Hercig Associates is preparing documents for a <br />program to disassemble and reconstruct the tile roof of the dome at the Third <br />Courthouse. Additional related masonry repair will be included. A temporary <br />weatherization program is underway to get the structure through the winter. <br />They have been made aware that these activities willrequirea CdA. <br />Phil Cartwright of Troyer Associates is volunteering his labor to supervise <br />the stabilization of the Second Courthouse. Mr. Duvall noted that the Northern <br />Indiana Historical Society still had storage in the building. John Embriclson, <br />director of the City -County physical plant will be executing the work. .firs. <br />Sporleder inquired why the structure was being "moth -balled". 'Mr. Duvall <br />responded that his understanding was that an individual contributor had given <br />ter, thousand dollars toward that purpose in the absence of some wider <br />rehabilitation program.
