Budget & Finance <br />The department of Community and Economic Development has notified us of their <br />intention to fully fund our subgrant at its past level ($19.000) for the <br />coming year. <br />The Committee has determined to enter into Economic Benefits Study (see Staff <br />Report below) and hire <br />2. Historic Landmarks <br />of .the committee with Aladean DeRose. The <br />vote at the November meeting. <br />First reading was made on Establishment of Leeper Park as Local Historic <br />Landmark. This proposal has been brought to the Park Board By Mr. Talley. The <br />Public Hearing and second reading will be held at the November meeting of the <br />Commission. Mr. Talley indicated that there was extensive discussion at that <br />meeting but no action has been taken by the Park Board. He also stated that <br />there was some indication of a future building program in the works for <br />Leeper Park. <br />As an aside, Mr. Talley also noted that there appears to be interest in <br />reconstructing the streetlight conditions on the Michigan Street bridge which <br />is already a Local Landmark. <br />Mr. Oxian reported on the status of recommendations to Common Council - <br />534 LaPorte Avenue (Starzynski Texaco Gasoline Station) remains tabled. This <br />site will be the object of a committee meeting yet to be scheduled. <br />237 North Michigan (LaSalle Hotel) is still under negotiation regarding the <br />conditions of owner consent. <br />518 South Michigan (Pro Sound) ordinance has been submitted to Common Council <br />and should be coming up on their agenda in the near future. <br />Stanfield Pokagon Street light was established as a Local Landmark by the <br />Common Council. A second similar.lightpole has been located nearby at Napoleon <br />Street and was proposed for inclusion by amendment. However, the Zoning and <br />Annexation Committee preferred to consider it separately. Mr. Oxian has <br />therefore directed staff to prepare such an ordinance. <br />Mr. Talley indicated that he had concern that repair operations should be <br />monitored at Landmark street lights. Mrs. Choitz indicated that these <br />lightposts should be tagged in some way to identify their status. Mr. Talley <br />will inquire at the city sign shop. <br />5. Mr. <br />Duvall indicated that the work at 909 Riverside Dr. had commenced work without <br />COA but that there was no problem with the workmanship or material. Mr. Talley <br />indicated that the same contractor seems to have commenced work at 952 <br />Riverside. Mr. Duvall indicated that no COA had been issued recently for work <br />at this location. <br />
