For instance, the gutter lines on <br />the east and west wings are not at the same elevation, the <br />east wing being higher, making the continuous string <br />cornice effect shown in the illustration impossible to <br />achieve. Staff also anticipates some difficulties with <br />roof drainage as the west wing presently drains into this <br />patio at an elevation considerably below the top of its <br />parapet (see photo) which is shown as the roof line of the <br />proposed flat porch roof. The difficulty in resolving <br />these elements is exacerbated by the presence of an <br />architecturally significant cove soffit built into the <br />wall of the east wing. <br />Staff recommends a conceptual approval of the patio <br />enclosure. Staff further recommends that the application <br />be referred to committee for review of final construction <br />documents when they become available to assure resolution <br />of the issues discussed above. <br />David B.
