Discussion ensued between Mrs. Sporleder and Mr. Holycross regarding staffing, budgeting, and possible solutions. Mrs. Sporleder suggested that the Commission discuss the aims and future of the HPC and its staff's duties. Mr. Oxian suggested that each Commission member come to February's meeting with a list of priorities so that the Commission can discuss long term planning and goals for the HPC and its staff. Mrs. Sporleder complimented the staff on the quality and style of the reports submitted. V. Old Business A. Reappointment of Officers Mr. Oxian called for a report from the Nominating Committee for the reappointing of HPC officers. Mrs. Petrass motioned that the same officers continue in their positions for the first quarter of 1993. Mr. Eide seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion was approved unanimously. Mrs Sporleder informed the Commission members of the grant application she had completed for the Urban Forestry grants program. The HPC will know the results in March. VI. New Business Mr. Zwierzynski (Cole Associates) and Mr. Ferrand (County Engineer) made a presentation to the HPC about a possible project that will involve the rehabilitation of the Darden Road Bridge. The proposed project would call for the construction of a new bridge north of the old bridge for vehicular traffic and the rehabilitation of the Darden Bridge for pedestrian and bike traffic, incorporating the bridge into an already existing trail system. After explaining the project and answering questions from the individual Commissioners, Mr. Zwierzynski and Mr. Ferrand asked that the HPC favorably support this proposed project. Mrs Sporleder motioned that the HPC accept this design concept as presented. Mr. Eide seconded the motion. No discussion. 4
