Holycross pointed out that the existing siding <br />was not original. Mrs. Sporleder asked what <br />type wood the existing siding was. Mr. Selsor <br />said he didn't know yet, and for that reason had <br />used the wording "in -kind siding" on his <br />proposal. He assured the Commission that he <br />planned to use wood siding, not vinyl siding. <br />Mrs. Sporleder asked Mr. Selsor whether he <br />planned to reroof the barn. He said it might be <br />necessary to replace the shingles, but the roof <br />itself seemed sound. Mr. Holycross remarked <br />that the staff could approve shingle <br />replacement. <br />Mr. Herendeen m to approve the entire <br />proposal. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion,_ <br />Motion ,.- approved unanimo <br />Mr. Herendeen said the proposal seemed a very <br />good way to save the old barn. Mrs. Sporleder <br />thanked Mr. Selsor for submitting such clear and <br />complete drawings. <br />1. 1315 E. Wayne ---E. Wayne LHD <br />Mr. Pastor reported that the owner, Mr. Weldy, <br />wished to attach four salmon - colored dome canvas <br />awnings over the front windows and door. He <br />distributed photos of the existing front facade, <br />and specifications including a sample of the <br />awning canvas. <br />Mr. Holycross said the owner also planned to <br />remove the vines from the walls, and to paint <br />the stucco white. He further stated that <br />district standards specified only that awnings <br />be made of canvas; they said nothing about color <br />or shape. The staff recommended, however, that <br />square awnings of a different color -- possibly <br />dark green - -be substituted. <br />Mr. Herendeen expressed doubts about the <br />aesthetic appropriateness of square awnings on <br />this house's arched window He said he <br />considered domed awnings more appropriate in <br />this case. Mrs. Dennen said she considered the <br />domed awnings excessively commercial, and <br />pointed out that only the window settings were <br />arched; the windows themselves were square.
